Freelance Writer & Book Author
Kathryn Bechen is an award-winning lifestyle writer whose published freelance writing career began at age 26 when she was hired to interview and write a newspaper feature article about world-famous financial investor Warren Buffett, and his mother. Since that time, Kathryn has interviewed many other highly accomplished people from all walks of life and her published articles have appeared in national, regional, and local magazines and newspapers, including Cottage Style, Small Room Decorating, Country Almanac, American Dream Cottages,  San Diego Style Weddings, Nebraska Wedding Day, and more.

In addition to her article writing, Kathryn's  internationally bestselling book,*  Small Space Organizing: A Room-by-Room Guide to Maximizing Your Space, is published by Baker Publishing Group, one of the largest Christian publishers in the world. Upon her book's January, 2012 worldwide release to retail book outlets and libraries, it received immediate attention from national and regional media outlets like Martha Stewart Living Radio, Family Circle magazine, The Washington Post's Midnight Express, and many more.  At Home Tennessee magazine reviewed it as one of the best design books for Spring 2012, and international Elle Decor magazine chose it as a sweepstakes giveaway.

By May, 2012, Kathryn's book became an Amazon "Top 100" bestselling decorating book internationally, in several countries, and at one point was ranked the #1 bestselling Amazon (U.S.) Kindle decorating book.  In addition,  national home pros endorsed the book, and it has had many positive blogger, reader, and colleague reviews.

As of April, 2013,  192 libraries in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, The Netherlands, and Singapore are lending Small Space Organizing, and it has recently been purchased by the National Association of Realtors for their Realtor University.    It is also available at various online major and independent bookstores and on numerous mega-retail sites such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Overstock.com.    Small Space Organizing  still continues to be ranked in the "Top 100" bestselling decorating books (usually in the Kindle edition) on Amazon in several countries and Kathryn continues to be interviewed by the media on the topic of living well in small space homes--be it a house, condo, or apartment.

In addition to Small Space Organizing, Kathryn has also written and self-published several other organizing and decorating e-books, and has written and managed her own organizing/decorating/lifestyle blog for several years at www.KathrynBechenInk.com.

Believing deeply that everyone deserves to have a beautiful, orderly, and nurturing home space, no matter what their home size or budget, Kathryn donates a portion of the sales proceeds of her books to charity.

Along with her article and book writing, Kathryn writes and edits marketing copy for creative entrepreneurs such as professional organizers, interior decorators, and artists--because she enjoys helping her fellow entrepreneurs make their small businesses shine.

Media Guest Expert
Over the years, Kathryn has been invited to be a national and regional media guest interviewee/expert for numerous  magazines, newspapers, and radio shows on the lifestyle topics of home organizing and decorating, freely offering her tips about home offices, small spaces, and couples decorating together--as humorously described in her poem, "Decorating Without Divorcing."

Education + Entrepreneurial Passion
Kathryn holds a  B.A. degree in English/Education and an interior decorating certificate.  The companies she founded and managed over time--Organized With Ease, Kathryn Bechen Designs, and Kathryn Bechen INK--have served people worldwide through her  in-person  and phone consulting, seminars/speeches/teleseminars, articles, and books. The heartfelt reader letters and e-mails, and client  testimonials she receives inspire and motivate her to keep passionately sharing her home and lifestyle message.

Small Space Grace
Living personally what she writes about, Kathryn and her long-time husband, Steve Bechen, have consciously chosen  the ease, freedom, and financial benefits of the small space lifestyle.  They currently reside in sunny San Diego, California, USA in a 710 square foot "penthouse treehouse" home.

Enjoying working side-by-side in a marital team m.o.,  Kathryn and Steve have planned, organized, and decorated 14 personal small space residences together, using many ideas from their travels to over 65  bed & breakfast inns across the U.S.   Both incurable romantics at heart, their own dollarwise DIY "bed & breakfast style" master bedroom makeover was featured in the national newsstand decorating magazine, Country Almanac.

Kathryn's focus for their home projects is on strategic ideas, meticulous planning, and researching product purchases to get the best value, quality, and aesthetics for their dollar.  Steve's contribution is  making sure Kathryn's designs and ideas are engineered properly and are functionally efficient and safe via his engineering, building construction, and handyman skills.  (In other words, Steve proudly makes sure Kathryn's organizing and decorating "schemes" don't fall down in the middle of the night!)

Her Heartfelt Message & Mission
Kathryn's lifelong Christian faith,  happy marriage to her college sweetheart, friends who have shared her home  as welcomed guests over the years, worldwide network of virtual reader friends, and favorite writing quotes and life quotes are the combined loving fuel that enable her to tirelessly share with others around the world her heartfelt home and lifestyle message of creating beauty and order at home, whatever the size of your space or budget. A self-confessed obsessive list maker by nature, (which one friendly observer joked is in her DNA and she fears he's likely right!),  this is Kathryn's personal "life FAVEs" list.
