Bestselling Book Author
Kathryn's internationally bestselling book,* Small Space Organizing: A Room-by-Room Guide to Maximizing Your Space, was contracted/published by Baker Publishing Group, one of the largest Christian publishers in the world. Upon her book's January, 2012 worldwide release to bookstores, retail outlets, and libraries, it received immediate mention from national and regional media outlets like Martha Stewart Living Radio, Family Circle magazine, The Washington Post's Midnight Express, and many more. At Home Tennessee magazine reviewed it as one of the best design books for Spring 2012, the popular international Elle Decor magazine chose it as a 30 copies sweepstakes giveaway, and Treehugger, a leading media outlet dedicated to green living, called it one of the "5 Must-Read Books for Small Space Organizing."
By May, 2012, Kathryn's book became an Amazon "Top 100" bestselling decorating book internationally, in several countries, and on 5/5/12 was the #1 bestselling Amazon (U.S.) Kindle decorating book. In addition, national home pros endorsed the book, and it has had many positive blogger, reader, and colleague reviews.
As of April, 2013, 192 libraries in the U.S., Canada, New Zealand, Australia, The Netherlands, and Singapore were lending Small Space Organizing, and it was purchased by the National Association of Realtors for their Realtor University. It has also been purchased by many major and independent bookstores and online retail sites such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Overstock.com.
Two years after its release, Small Space Organizing continues to be ranked in the Amazon "Top 100" bestselling decorating books in several countries, (usually in the Kindle edition), has been purchased by 214 international libraries, and Kathryn continues to be interviewed by the media on the topic of living well in small space homes--be it a house, condo, or apartment.
Small Space Organizing, Kathryn has also written and self-published several other organizing and decorating e-books, and has written and managed her own organizing/decorating/lifestyle blog for several years at www.KathrynBechenInk.com. She also writes and edits marketing copy for creative entrepreneurs such as professional organizers, interior decorators, and artists--because she enjoys helping her fellow entrepreneurs make their small businesses shine.
Believing deeply that everyone deserves to have a beautiful, orderly, and nurturing home space, no matter what their home size or budget, Kathryn donates a portion of the sales proceeds of her books to charity.

Small Space Mates
Living personally what she writes about, Kathryn and her long-time college-sweetheart husband, Steve Bechen, have always consciously chosen the ease and coziness of the small space lifestyle. Enjoying working side-by-side in a marital team m.o., they have strategically planned, remodeled, organized, and decorated 14 personal small space residences together, (some purchased and some rented), using many ideas from their travels to over 65 bed & breakfast inns across the U.S. Both incurable romantics at heart, their own dollarwise DIY "bed & breakfast style" master bedroom makeover was featured in the national newsstand decorating magazine, Country Almanac.
Kathryn and Steve currently reside in sunny San Diego, California, USA in this 710 SF "penthouse treehouse." Kathryn's focus for their home projects is on strategic ideas, planning, and researching product purchases. Steve's contribution is making sure Kathryn's designs and ideas are functionally efficient and safe. (In other words, Steve makes sure Kathryn's "home schemes" don't fall down in the middle of the night!) This is a slideshow about the lifestyle they have created together: Courage to Create a Life You Love.
