My Book Contract With a Top U.S. Publisher

I am pleased to announce that I was invited to enter into a book contract with a top U.S. book publisher to write a home-related book and I feel truly honored and blessed to be represented by this large veteran publisher of famous, bestselling, and many other talented authors. I will be diligently writing for the next few months and my book is to be released January, 2012. A huge thank you to my acquiring editor and her publishing team (you know who you are!) for believing that together as author and publisher, we can bring you a book to help you live your very best life at home!

AP Media Interview

I was interviewed yesterday by an AP news writer and gave decorating/organizing tips for a home-related story she's writing. I will share about it once it's published.

The Faded Awning Collection

I wanted to share a FAB new design store with you located in the sweet little picturesque village of La Jolla, CA. It's called The Faded Awning Collection, and they specialize in coastal interiors. The sweet (and chic) owner, Cathy Allen, let me take pix to share her oh-so-lovely-and-fun home goodies with you on my blog. Please stop in to Cathy's store at the end of Girard Avenue and tell her I sent you. Til then, I hope you enjoy my photo tour! Click on photos to enlarge.

If you're into "oodles and oodles of creamy neutral home confections" these days, like I am, you're gonna love this little corner of luscious white table linens and comfy beige chair slipcovers. Cathy's "decorating-partner-in-crime," Gigi, (who I met years ago in a store down the street and she's great fun!), is the go-to-gal for anything you need for a white ruffle gig.

I think this shabby white screen would be adorable behind a bed as a "headboard," or outside on the patio next to a profusion of green and flowering plants, don't you?!

Some sweet home soul bought these two chairs before I could, bless her heart! I LOVE their fabric and graciously curved design, yet they are casual too, and just right for today's neutral serene-and-breezy look. Cathy's upholsterer does b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l work and she told me he can make your slipcovers too.

Cathy is a master at vignettes and everything in her store is displayed oh-so-artfully. She has gorgeous shells for all of you who love to include them with your coastal decor. She also has a great eye for red nautical furniture and accents, and a knack for turning the rustic into elegant coastal chic.

I also loved the little "art gallery" corner in the back of the store, with this adorable seaside painting.

The little red striped cabana in the store's window was custom commissioned, according to Cathy, and right now, I'm gonna step inside it with a cold glass of "virtual lemonade!" When I saw it in person, I told Cathy, "That cabana is too cute for words!" (And as a professional writer, I'm seldom at a loss for words!)

After I'm done with my lemonade stint in the red cabana, I'm gonna hop up on this "Peace and Love" bed, read home decor magazines 'til my heart's content...

sip a latte, and then take a nap! (Well, a girl can dream, right?!)

Be sure to drop in to Cathy Allen's The Faded Awning Collection next time you're in La Jolla, CA. Or if you see something you like here, and you live across the country, Cathy assured me she can make shipping arrangements. She also offers design services if you're hankering to have a hand in transforming your home into a coastal-comfy-yet-chic-and-serene-retreat.
