Dear Blog Friends,
Sure I love writing, but I can assure you that that I don't "have time" to lounge around and write while eating bon bons and caviar! :) I make time to write! How? I don't run kids to six soccer practices a week, I don't go to football games, (ugh!) I don't go to bridal showers (I send a gift), and I don't watch TV (who needs the violence?) hardly at all. I do write in prolific bouts many times from about ten p.m. 'til after two a.m. though while working on magazine assignments or client copy.
My point here leads me to recommend a great new book by author Kelly L. Stone, Time to Write. Kelly briliantly interviewed over 100 professional and highly accomplished writers from many genres who share their secrets for finding time to write. You'll have to read Kelly's book to find out about all the myriad ways that writers find time to write, but I'll give you one tip: sleep is often one thing that gets cut from many successful writers' lives. As in, they get up at anywhere from 3 to 5 a.m. to write before leaving to work their ten hour day job.
